ANAKA PROFILE: KARA LAYTON

A ball of light and laughter, Anaka’s co-founder and Artistic Director, Kara Layton divulges her daily hair- routine and makes the impossible choice between Brad and Johnny.

Favorite trend for summer is…
Wella Professionals’ new range of Freelights (sunkissed looks with freehand application) and pastels! I’m also all about getting creative and personalising your look – suitability is the key.

Your ultimate IT girl at the moment?
Elyse Taylor – the epitome of effortless beauty, as you can see baring (almost) all on our homepage here!

The best thing about being a hairdresser is …
The creativity and the fact that it’s so much fun that it doesn’t feel like work!

Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp?
Johnny Depp.

What is your morning hair routine?
Wash with Wella SP Luxe Oil Range (Keratin Protect Shampoo and Conditioner), then towel dry.
Layer in Sebastian Thickefy Foam, then Wella Luxe Oil on the ends.
Tousle dry before using the Cloud Nine waving wand for added texture.
Every second day I love Sebastian Drynamic (dry shampoo) for instant style and a refreshed look.

When was the last time you went to church?
A christening two years ago, but I go to the Buddha temple most weekends.

Kylie or Danni Minogue?
Danni.

What product do you think everyone needs in their bathroom, no matter the hair type?
Sebastian Texture Maker – it grants the gift of definition while minimising frizz in curly hair and for those with fine, straight hair, Texture Maker delivers voluminous body with the option of a smooth or textured finish. All with the perfect amount of hold, I love this product!

How do you unwind?
Yoga, walks and meditation.

Vodka is best served …
With lemon and lime.

What are you afraid of?
Sky Diving – the giant drop, no thanks!
