20 Oct Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk
At Anaka, we believe the devil is in the detail, and there’s no better icon for high-quality, intricate design than Jean Paul Gaultier. The man is in town at the moment, and last week celebrated the launch of The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk – the Asia Pacific exclusive exhibition currently on show at the National Gallery of Victoria until February 8th, 2015.
“Preparing this exhibition I have realized how strong my ties to Australia are – Nicole Kidman was my first couture client; Kylie is a dear friend and I have had the pleasure of working closely with her, on her tours. I have also been working for many years with models Gemma Ward, Catherine McNeil, Jarrod Scott and the list goes on,” said Jean Paul.
“The people are what make this country great, and you Australians certainly excel!”
Featuring more than 140 garments including the very first dress created in 1971, the exhibition features 32 custom ‘talking’ mannequins equipped with state of the art wigs and headdresses created by renowned hairstylist Odile Gilbert – we’re in!
